Using cloud based services, your company can have access to tools that help manage customer data, improve relationships, and become more agile. Forrester analyst William Band says, “This desire for increased flexibility and agility has been a key driver of the rapid adoption of CRM software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions.”

These are the main benefits of using a cloud based CRM application, such as Sage SalesLogix Cloud:

Quick deployment.

Businesses no longer have to purchase, install, and maintain expensive systems and servers. Instead, the company simply rents resources from the service provider and can download and deploy tools to many devices via the Internet.

Rapid time to value.

CSC’s Cloud Index found that 80% of businesses experienced improvements in IT performance within 6 months of moving to the cloud.

IT flexibility.

Using the cloud, IT can easily support business needs—without having to worry about technology platforms, staffing issues, or costs. Plus, cloud CRM applications enable IT departments to support the organization’s Big Data and mobility concerns.

Data security.

Though traditionally a concern for many businesses, a recent survey from Microsoft’s Trustworthy Computing shows that the cloud can actually strengthen SMB data security. According to the survey, SMBs using the cloud were nearly six times more likely to have decreased the total amount spent on security.

Easy buying and ownership experience.

ZDNet points out that, with the cloud, CRM technology is now affordable to SMBs. Organizations can pick and choose what they need, and pay for what they use. This approach makes it easy to scale as the company grows.

There are many cloud based CRM services available to your business.

From analytics and sales force automation to social media, customer service, and marketing, it is important to first understand your company’s needs before selecting the solutions that are right for you. Visit our website to learn more about Sage SalesLogix Cloud.

Who Uses the Web Administrator?

Many of the features within this toolset are comparable to the administrative settings within the Tools > Manage menu in the Windows Client—such as setting up pick lists, literature items, resources, qualifications, products, competitors, lead sources, standard problems, and standard resolutions. For this reason, you may choose to designate “power” end users to assist with these same settings in the Web Administrator.
For other tasks that are more comparable to the Windows Administrator toolset—such as managing users, teams, or departments—you might also use the Web Administrator when you might not have access to the administrator workstation, you are offsite, or you are managing Sage SalesLogix in the Cloud.

What Sage SalesLogix Administrative Tasks Can I Do in Web that I Can’t Do in Windows?

In case you missed Sage Summit, here’s a quick recap of the SalesLogix Cloud session:

Sage SalesLogix Cloud can provide financial and business benefits without compromising the investment you have already made in Sage SalesLogix. Wed discussed how Sage SalesLogix Cloud enables you to focus your time and efforts on realizing the value that comes from using Sage SalesLogix and less on managing the day-to-day technical details of your
implementation.

We covered key areas such as:

Migrating from On-Premise to the Cloud - Once you have upgraded to the latest version of SalesLogix Web, migrating to the Cloud is simply a matter of copying your database and library/attachment files and making a few configuration updates.

Upgrades - Customers who are non customized will be automatically upgraded to new releases. Customized customers will work with their business partners to perform the upgrade.

Back-office Integrations - Customers can leverage sData to integrate with on-premise systems. In addition, virtual private cloud is an option that could be utilized if web services integration is not possible.

News from Sage SalesLogix Community

It might be hard to believe, but we had to have the image ready for Sage Summit today. Nearly two months in advance! What does that mean to a Sage SalesLogix Partner or Customer? It means version 8 is good enough to be put on an image and used for Summit. Exciting!

What is the image used for?

I have two sessions that the image is used for. One is a mobile session covering version 2.0 and 3.0 of mobile, and the other is covering the web admin tools, dynamic customizations area, and new deployment methods (or really lack of deployment!).

These two sessions are both customer sessions on Wednesday and Thursday but partners can attend.

Are these hands-on sessions?

Yes! I prefer hands-on sessions because we get a chance to talk about the new stuff and then try it out! These sessions are in a lab room with computers running a vmware image of version 8.

What else do you get?

But wait there is more! Just like years past, everything we do in these two sessions will be in a printed book (one book for both sessions), downloads of the code or newest customizations since the stuff on the image will be nearly two months old, and we will share anything we know about release dates of new training, new training topics, and anything else you care to talk about.

See you there!

Included with each Sage SalesLogix purchase, customers can take advantage of SpeedSearch, which enables users to search for information stored in your Sage SalesLogix database as well as external documents on your network. Users can automatically insert SpeedSearch results into an active ticket or defect. If your company uses Web Customer Portal, your customers can also search for information that is publicly available.

To extend and customize SpeedSearch, you can add the Advanced SpeedSearch license, which allows your company to perform these additional tasks:

Add or edit a file system index

Add or edit a database index

Delete an index

Restore the standard indexes

Secure an index

Why would you want to add a custom database index? For most Sage SalesLogix implementations, the default indexes are sufficient for users to search for and find information in the Sage SalesLogix database. However, you may want to add a database index if you need to search for information in a system table that was not included in the default—or from a custom table that you’ve added to extend the Sage SalesLogix product. Before you add a database index, determine what tables and fields contain the data that you want to make accessible through SpeedSearch. How you configure the index determines some of the options and information available to SpeedSearch users, as shown in this example.

Note: If you create a new index for a table that has never been indexed, the Open Results button in the Windows and Web Clients will not be available until you do some modifications in the Architect (Windows Client) and Application Architect (Web Client). See the “Adding or Editing a Database Index” in the Administrator Help.

Douglas A. McIntyre of 247 Wall Street (247wallst.com) has some interesting observations from Comscore’s U.S. Digital in Focus: 2012 report. Comscore’s whitepaper has alerted us about how tablets, smartphones and connected devices are changing our digital media consumption habits and this has given rise to the term ‘Digital Omnivores’.

“These multi device consumers roam the streets, their homes, retail establishments, trains and airplanes with smartphones and tablet PCs. They are the enemies of old-world TV, print media and radio. And their numbers are growing exponentially. The old consumer of media was happy to remain at home with a TV and cable box. According to studies from Nielsen and other research groups, these people spent as much as six hours in front of their TVs. Some listened to drive-time radio and had a subscription to Time magazine. They were passive consumers of media. Information and entertainment flowed to them inbound.”

Here at Sage CRM, as part of our long term mobile strategy to ensure we provide the best possible experience to all users regardless of device, we have recently launched our new mobile website. The mobile site is fully optimised to facilitate both our existing mobile customers and new mobile visitors coming to www.sagecrm.com via mobile devices.

This first phase of the mobile site consists of:
Brief overviews of the features and benefits of the Sage CRM Product, supported by comprehensive ‘ease of use’ videos streamed full screen, an existing customer login facility and an expression of interest contact form. If you haven’t had a chance yet, it’s worth checking out – just browse to m.sagecrm.com on your smartphone.

With this explosion and exponential growth of the smartphone and tablet usage worldwide, it is more important than ever to understand the current trends that are shaping the mobile landscape and how these trends are defining the future of the industry.

Comscore’s webinar includes key insights from the 2012 Mobile Future in Focus Report examining the prevailing trends driving growth in the industry and what these mean for the 2012 and beyond.

How are mobile connectivity and connected device adoption shaping cross-platform digital media consumption?

What are the most popular activities consumers are performing on their phone and what mobile media categories are seeing the fastest growth in terms of audience.

Mobile Search

Our mobile content strategy over the next few months involves publishing content optimised for and targeted at mobile search. Our content will look to inform and educate those browsing our site on mobile devices. We plan to implement and deliver location based content depending on your region while also serving the site in four different languages ( English, French, Spanish and German). Almost 50 percent of all local searches were conducted from a mobile device in the last 12 months, and while mobile search tends to pick up in the evenings and on weekends this presents a huge opportunity to educate prospects about Sage CRM and CRM in general.

Sage want to know what you think of the Sage CRM mobile site (m.sagecrm.com) and if you’re prepared to divulge, we’d love to hear if you would consider yourself a ‘digital omnivore’.
